Bardonia, New York – A Safe Neighbourhood for Families

Bardonia, New York is home to many families with children under 18.

Bardonia is a census-designated place (CDP) in New York City with a suburban feel. It’s known for having a safe and comfortable community. Located in Rockland County, the CDP is northeast of Nanuet, northwest of West Nyack, south of New City and west of Valley Cottage. Bardonia residents can access New York City with buses. Even though the CDP is away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan city, it’s still alive with shops, schools and other amenities.

In 1849, John, Phillip and Conrad Bardon came to Bardonia from Bavaria and opened their own businesses. The CDP is named after them. When the railroad station was opened in 1875, John Bardon opened a store along the railroad. Unfortunately, the railroad is no longer there. John Bardon’s son, Henry Bardon, followed in his footsteps, opening a business of his own. The former Bardon Hotel was built by Henry Bardon in 1895.
