Thiells, New York is a hamlet and a census-designated place located in the town of Haverstraw in Rockland County. It was known as Haverstraw Forge during the Revolutionary War and as Thiell’s Corner in the 1850s.

Situated along Route 202, Thiells is between the Palisades Interstate Parkway with the Hudson River to the east. The majority of residents own their own house, with 87% boasting home ownership, and about half of the region’s citizens have a post-secondary degree. The region has a number of historic sites, including Thiells United Methodist Church built more than 230 years ago, originally a mission to American Indians.
